David was raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where he learned early in life the values of hard work, dedication and integrity. In his early teens he learned to play golf and took an interest in golf course maintenance, He was to young to work on the maintenance crew. He started work in the cart barn and as a caddy. When David turned 16 he was than allowed to join the golf maintenance team at Bent Creek CC in Lancaster, Pa. David has always loved the out clubs doors and decided he wanted to make a career out of his enjoyment of golf maintenance, golf and the outdoors.

 

David started his career working at Bent Creek with Jim Loke former superintendent at Firestone in Akron, Ohio. He also worked with several assistant that moved on to work at Merion Golf Club and Pine Valley Golf Club. This let to him getting an internship at the famed Merion Golf Club.

David decided to continue to advance his career and enrolled in Rutgers, Turfgrass Management Program. After graduating with honors he took an assistants position at Huntingdon Valley CC, a top 100 club located in Pennsylvania.

 

David decided he wanted to move to warmer weather in South Florida and the best way to experiencing growing southern grass firsthand was to assist in a grow in. He got a job at a high-end exclusive grow in Naples. Fl. This club was called Hammock Bay and is where he learned several important factors in growing quality turfgrass.

 

David was than recruited to Hilton Head Island to assist as superintendent of a 36 hole property and later as Golf Course Superintendent at Grand Harbor’s River Course where he worked over 10 years before moving on to The Country Club of Winter Haven to maintain his own individual property.

 

In 2017 David moved to Saint Augustine to help get the golf course on track after several years of neglect. He has successfully reestablished playing surfaces and significantly increased the playability and aesthetics of the golf course.
